Shaker Publishing, a well-known publisher of scientific and textbook authors, supports several hundred research institutes and editors of international conference proceedings. Xerox digital print and workflow technology enables Shaker to specialize in all fields of science—where documents are produced for small groups of readers and updated at short intervals. Shaker combines propriety workflow solutions for Web-to-print with Xerox FreeFlow MakeReady for pre-press work, then prints book blocks on a Xerox 650/1300 Continuous Feed Printer, while book covers are produced on an offset press and books are perfect bound on a Muller Martini Sigma Binder. After the initial run, additional short-run books are printed on-demand on the Xerox Nuvera 288 Digital Perfecting System.
Shaker used the Xerox 650/1300 Continuous Feed Printer and Muller Martini Sigma Binder to produce the Aachener Straβen Book using , for the cover stock and Xerox Publisher Cream 80 gsm for the text stock. Adding increased flexibility and green advantages, while at the same time reducing warehousing costs, additional books were printed on demand on the Xerox Nuvera 288 Digital Perfecting System.
